Zakat in Facing the Challenges of Economic Recession

Abstract

Writing this paper aims to describe the potential effectiveness of zakat in facing the challenges of economic recession. As we know, Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. This very large number of Muslim population illustrates the huge potential of ZIS that can be obtained. In addition, the rapid development of ZIS management in Indonesia makes the great potential of ZIS can be used to empower the community. The proper allocation and utilization of zakat is important in order to anticipate a decrease in welfare due to an economic recession. This paper was made using the literature review method. The data used in this paper is secondary data. The conclusion obtained is the effectiveness of zakat is very helpful in the scope of household consumption.
