Analysis Of Cryptocurrency As An Obligatory Zakat Object

ABSTRACT
Since the emergence of Bitcoin as a Cryptocurrency in 2009, Cryptocurrency development is
growing rapidly. Various new Cryptocurrencies appear. Muslim communities collect it both as
currency and as digital assets. This phenomenon is attractive to research. Whether learning
something new is worthy of being included as an object of zakat is necessary. This research
explores the application of zakat in the context of Cryptocurrency. Following the rapid changes
in the modern economy and the development of blockchain technology. Using the literature
study method, this research examines the feasibility of Cryptocurrency as an object of zakat
and what nishab is. Also discussed are various views of Muslim scholars regarding the
opportunities for applying zakat to Cryptocurrencies. As well as analyze emerging legal and
economic challenges.
